PROMOTION TO THE ABSA CUP FOR NOW: KONKOLA BLADES SECURE, THE REST FIGHT ON
With four games left before Week 17, Konkola Blades have officially qualified for the ABSA Cup if the top four National Division One teams are to make it, as was the case last season. Kansanshi Dynamos are just one win or two draws away from joining them, but the battle for the remaining two spots is wide open.
Prison Leopards and Mpulungu Harbour currently occupy the third and fourth positions, but their hold is far from secure. Teams as low as Leopards Hill in 12th place still have a mathematical chance of breaking into the top four, making this one of the most competitive run-ins in recent seasons.
Prison Leopards will need consistency to maintain their spot, while Mpulungu Harbour must fend off stiff competition from the likes of Mines United, Jumulo, and River Plate. The fight for the ABSA Cup slots will likely go down to the wire, with no room for error for those dreaming of qualification.
With only four Division One slots available, who will rise to the challenge and join Konkola Blades in Zambia’s premier cup competition?
