SOMETIMES APOLOGISE FOR YOUR OWN CONVENIENCE – EVEN WHEN YOU ARE RIGHT

In my lifetime one of the things I rarely accept are ‘sorrys’. Not that saying sorry is not good or important, but it is very difficult to ascertain if a sorry being handed is indeed coming from a strong sense of remorse or its just a matter of convenience, in most instances it is the quickest way of shutting one up. I look more at what led to ones initial acts.
With the case of my brother Fashion Sakala Jr, I believe its of high importance that he creates time to personally meet the coach and iron out their differences—with him taking the seat of “I’m the wrong one”.
One thing I’ve also come to learn over the years is the importance of understanding the type of person you are dealing with. Some people just don’t care, some people don’t mind losing K5,000 to rescue a K250😁.
So you need that 6th and 7th sense to make that judgement to protect yourself.
In my line of work somewhere I got to travel on a work assignment. In this place you can’t travel without a written request, you can’t travel without a written permission from the number 2 boss, you cant travell without being paid to travel.
So everything was approved by all the line bosses and superiors.
But whilst I was away on the assignment, i got a call. The number one boss in the organisation was asking me why I had travelled without his knowledge because he needed me, what followed was a email asking me to report to his office upon return and explain what had happened.
This is someone who has worked for over 37yrs, I can’t start arguing with him, in the process I will sound disrespectful —even when I knew that I had done nothing wrong as I never approved my own travel I just had to apologise, made it clear that it would never happen again and made peace. The following week he was the first person to ask me why I was not travelling for a certain activity.
Look at the celebrations which hit the dressing room upon Zambias qualification, do you think any of those players are bitter with Grant! No.
They have even forgotten about the absence of their colleague. Even the fans themselves, they have put away every bad impression they have about ka Shikulu.
Fashion Sakala jnr is a brother we all come from Chipangali, he must not even wait for FAZ to mediate, let him take personal interest in the matter and make an apology be it a fake one or a genuine one.
It will be sad not to see him at AFCON, he’s a great talent. As much as he could be getting good pay , life needs sorted he must not let some one shadow his pride of wearing national colors and play for mother Zambia.
